Rotterdam Trip
In February 2008 the first and Second year Landscape architecture students took a trip to Rotterdam the principal industrial city of the Netherlands.
From a Landscape and Architecture perspective the city differed greatly from London.
It was Structured on a grid system much like a north American city which was broken only by the meander of the River Maas that split the city in two. The city was full of straight lines with very few curves.
Having been bombed heavily during the second world war, there was an overwhelming presence of modernist and post modern architecture and design. (Rotterdam was also appointed European city of Architecture in 2008).
